Scholarships for 2012

The deadline for applications to be received by the Community Foundation is March 31, 2012.
Potential applicants are advised to check this space periodically for new information about the various scholarship opportunities, as these are subject to change in January and February.
The Community Foundation of the Virginias now offers twelve separate scholarship opportunities for area students. The Foundation awarded scholarships totaling $40,000 to 44 area high school and college students seeking to further their education in 2010.

The Alex B. Mahood, Jr. Scholarship provides assistance to seniors from Bluefield High School and Graham High School.
Applications are also available through the respective school Guidance Offices.
Applicants should carefully read the Information documents and Applications
to be certain that they meet the requirements of the various scholarships.
The E. R. Gillespie Scholarship Fund
One scholarship graduates of Bluefield High School, Graham High School, Tazewell High School and/or Princeton Senior High School.
Preference given to students with an affiliation with Shell Oil Company (See "Information").
The Graham High School Scholarship Fund
One scholarship for a Graham High School senior.
The Max L. and Virginia S. Kammer Family Scholarship Fund
One scholarship. See "Information" for additional details.
Information Majors List Application
The Maurice and Grace Hanna Weinberg Scholarship Fund
One scholarship for a Graham High School or Bluefield High School senior.
The Doctor Jack Walter Witten Scholarship Fund
One scholarship for a Tazewell High School senior.
The Ralph H. and Shirley D. Kiser Family Scholarship Fund
Number of scholarships is undetermined Applicants must be residents of Mercer County who are financially
needy but academically prepared and plan to attend Bluefield College Ministerial Program.
The Roy R. Raub, M.D. Memorial Scholarship Fund

Information Application for High School Seniors Application for Prior Recipients
The East River Mountain #5432 Harley Owners Group Scholarship Fund
Number of scholarships is undetermined. Applicants must be graduating seniors of Bluefield High School or
Graham High School who will be attending college, junior college, trade or vocational school.
The C. B. and Ora Hunter Hancock Family Scholarship Fund
One scholarship for a graduating Bluefield High School senior who plans to attend an accredited college
or university on a full-time basis.
The Harmon Masonic Lodge #222 Scholarship Fund
One scholarship for a Graham High School senior, or senior from another Tazewell County High School
with Masonic connection
The William G. Skewes Memorial Scholarship Fund
For seniors in Mercer, McDowell and Tazewell counties.
The Joshua Lee Shutt Memorial Fund
Established to provide a grant and/or scholarship to aid the youth of Mercer County.
The Alfred and Shirley Wampler Caudill Scholarship Fund
For children of employees of Bluefield College, Bluefield State College, Concord University and other area
institutions of higher learning.
The Lindsay Rebekah Haun Memorial Scholarship Fund
For Princeton Senior High School seniors who have actively participated in performing arts organizations
while in high school.
