Athletes at Pikeview High School and the new Pikeview Middle School will benefit from a $1,000 grant used in the purchase of a High Jump Mat which will provide a safe landing for high jumpers.
The High Jump Mat is one improvement the school is planning in the upgrade of its track facilities, which currently serve 40 Pikeview HS students, and are expected to serve an additional 40 students when Pikeview Middle School opens this fall.
Other improvements include a safer rubberized surface to the running track, and modifying the track to eight lanes, instead of the current six lanes.
Altogether, the plan seeks to provide track facilities in Mercer County that are capable of hosting regional track meets, and which can be used by any Mercer County school.
