Bluefield, Virginia Chargers Football Team
The Bluefield, Virginia Chargers football team was awarded $1,000 from the Judge Jerome and Hilda R. Katz Memorial Fund and the Unrestricted Fund to support the team in its purchase of equipment and materials.
Pictured at left is Clifton Bradshaw, president of the Chargers and at right Justin Gray, director of the Chargers, both of whom are coaches of the Chargers team, which is a member of the area's Youth Football League. Each year around 60 young boys participate on the team, learning about the game of football and how to be part of a team. The coaching staff of the Charges also emphasize the importance of education, urging their players to succeed in school, and also aid in the personal development of their players.
Both Justin and Clifton played football for Glen Carlock, Sr. at Graham High School and have coached youth teams for many years. They are dedicated to perpetuating the strong football tradition of the region, and to helping young boys develop into productive men.
